Mattheas Boelter is an in demand Detroit based drummer, percussionist and educator. From Jazz and RnB to classical and musical theater, Mattheas is an incredibly versatile musician who is fluent in many genres. He has performed at the Michigan Jazz Festival, Meadowbrook Theater, the Flint Repertory Theater, and is a regular member of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra.
Mattheas holds a degree in percussion performance from Oakland University, and has studied with some of Detroit's top drummers and percussionists. Some of his teachers include Dan Maslanka, Nate Winn, Dave Zwolinsky, and Gayelynn McKinney. While at Oakland, Mattheas won the Percussion Solo Competition, and toured with an award winning percussion ensemble.
Mattheas is a drumset and piano instructor at Orion Music Studio and also runs a studio out of his home in Royal Oak. He currently teaches the percussion class at North Farmington High School and has worked with Rochester Public Schools, Oakland Youth Orchestras, and the Oakland Youth Brass Band. In his teaching, he focuses on giving a well-rounded education with a strong emphasis on fundamentals.
